I'm sorry but I believe Obama is just the other side of the same coin. So long as they both are part of the two party system we'll end up with nothing but the same. First of all, Obama and McCain can make promises all they wish. Truth be told? They won't be able to keep them due to the Congress, Senate and Supreme Court. The court appointees, once confirmed, on more than one occasion did not vote the way the Presidents who nominated them would like. The promises made by the presidents, when put to the test, have been forced to capitulate to Congressional and Senatorial pressure. Obama has made many promises that I am sure he knows he won't be able to keep. McCain has made many promises that he, too, knows he won't be able to keep. Obama? McCain? I don't trust either of them and would rather vote for Ron Paul. His track record has been consistent across the board. He has steadfastly refused to act contrary to the Constitution which is supposed to be the final law of the land. Neither Obama or McCain can make that claim. I truly think this election will bring us a president that won't deliver. Just my own humble opinion which I'm sure will result in flaming from others. Such is life. I'll deal with it and move on. Hopefully both candidates will be voted out by "none of the above." That would be the prime outcome.i'm afraid that i think you are absolutely correct. i want to vote "no confidence" but where does that get us? i will most likely vote for Ron Paul, for the reasons you've mentioned and more (see him in America: Freedom to Facism... he says great things about the IRS mafia). we should all vote for "Kurt Vonnegut" elect dead man
because apparently dead men voted for Bush 2x.
needs back up. what are your resources? any links to prove this?
i'll only comment on the healthcare issue, McCains plan is to make you pay taxes on the money your employer puts into your health care and give a $2500 tax credit, to offset the taxes paid or to find private health care. Most companies pay $5000+ to health care, that means you will have to pay taxes on $5000+ dollars but you get $2500 to (hardly) make up for that. plus where can you find coverage for $2500 if employers with big spending power and high-volume discounts still pay $5000+ ?
Obama's plan is to make companies (not small ones, but 'small' is not defiined yet) pay for all employees' health care and if the employee chooses to use a private insurer the company still pays a portion in taxes to be used in a National Health Care Program for those that can't afford or are denied coverage (which happens all the time, even if you've been paying into it for a long time). the National HC Program would not be allowed to turn away people with pre-existing conditions (asthma, old age, mental problems) and couldn't drop you for no reason, in the middle of ER surgery (current insurers can do that).
so basically McCain want YOU to pay more for insurance coverage that doesn't change, can still drop you anytime and refuse to insure someone. Obama wants Employers to insure all emploayees, whether the employee uses it or not is up to them, but the unused money will be put into the National Health Care Program.
i got my info from National Public Radio, here is a link to what i think is the story i heard . . .
no links allowed ?!!??!? go to NPR and search for an article titled "
Candidates' Health Care Plans: Private Vs. Public"
The democrats in my family will NOT be voting for Barach Obama. Rezko got $14 MILLION dollars due to his association with Obama in ILL Senate; and all of the low income housing is bust and the money squandered. Rezko is a Syrian, with connections to the Oil for Food Scandal that was tied to Sadaam Hussein. Many meetings and friendship associations of Rezko's have been tied to Obama, but he denies it. Ayers is a terrorist, from whose home Obama launched his ILL Senate campaign, and 20 yrs under Wright's preaching of Black Liberation Theology (reverse racism toward white's) will disqualify him from our families support. There is way too many corrupt associations to believe he is who he says he is. If his judgment is that bad for personal and political associations as a Senator, then he has no business in Washington, DC as President. Politics can be a blind walk, when we aren't independent enough to investigate claims that are documented. What is the CHANGE, being taunted??? His past Senate votes, and ILL Senate actions show no change from corrupt politics, and intenational associations that are questionable.
"Obama who has a real plan for energy independence..."Oh really? What is it? I haven't heard him put forth a plan for anything. We basically picked a guy off the streets and now he's running for President. How gullible can Americans get? Obama is the biggest con job to ever hit the American scene. He's a song-and-dance man. If you met him on a street corner you'd probably buy a few watches off him.Did you hear his speech? He's going to solve all our problems. No experience in anything. No logical sounding plan that's based on anything real as to how he's going to solve all this. He just says he's going to fix everything. How stupid can people get?If your kid came home from college and told you we have 57 states, wouldn't that concern you? We have a guy running for president who at one point said we have 57 states, why doesn't this raise a red flag with people. The man is ignorant. He's going to run this country? What's wrong with you?hmmmmm....ok...he messed up with the "57 states" response...BADDDD Obama. Hasn't it concerned you that during the past 8 years we've been dealing with the village idiot? A President that can't seem to speak in clear, consise sentences? They've labled a language after him? Ever heard of "Bushisms" LOL LOL Come on get with the program. We've had an ignoramus in the White House for 8 years...your're funny.
"I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully."
"Rarely is the questioned asked: Is our children learning?
"They misunderestimated me.""There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again."
TO THE POWER PEOPLE
Why is off shore drilling ridiculous? You are ok with killing babies? Please demonstrate the math and all relevant sections of the tax code on your claim that Obama will reduce taxes for all people making less than $111,645. Unless you can demonstrate the math, your claim is fiction.Off Shore drilling is bad? Do you understand the law of supply and demand? The real estate market is clearly showing us what an oversupply of anything does. It lowers prices. Not having enough does just the opposite. It raises prices. I have no idea where you get your information about oil companies. Are you just someone who hates capitalism and any story that says nasty things about oil companies, whether or not it is true, is good enough for you?I would retitle your article "At Least Seven Reasons Not To Vote For Barack Obama."Why is off shore drilling ridiculous? You are ok with killing babies?"And there you have it. Someone else who has bought the line from the Republicans to dupe the christians into voting for them while ignoring the fact that the Republicans are killing the social programs that help the sick and the poor while lining the pockets of their big-business cronies. And by the way, there are more people in America who need a house than there are houses, so in that sense there's not an over supply. These Americans just can't afford to live in these houses.
Thanks, Marvin, for your clearly written article. I agree with much of it, except that it is not the role of politicians to be deciding the abortion issue, though the Supreme Court has made it their business. Politicians should not be in charge of personal moral choices. We should vote for candidates based on their qualification for office, not whether or not they will appoint a particular mindset of judges.
